Raindrops Make Things Beautiful

Will It Grow If I Paint My Thumb Green?

Yesterday was spent planting 85 percent of a 10'x20' vegetable garden. We decided, that since we do have the space, and a freezer to store the produce in, we'd reduce our grocery bill this year by growing our own. Vivian doesn't allow the use of hoses as the water usage is metered, so I didn't get a chance to really soak things down they way they should be soaked. Mother Nature is taking care of that.

Sometime during the night we had a thunderstorm that knocked out our power. I don't think it was off very long. There wouldn't be any real way of telling as most of our clocks are digital except we do have one analog clock. Based on the time it shows, I'd say the power was off for 10 minutes.

Getting this garden in has waited longer than I wanted it to due to the very cold nights we've been having. It doesn't matter since I'm planting vegetables that freeze. There is time before the first frost in the Fall for them to grow and mature. So far I have the yellow wax beans, green beans, peas, broccoli, brussels sprouts, carrots and tomatoes planted. I still have the spinach and squash to plant. We opted for acorn squash rather than the usual zucchini and summer squashes found in most gardens.

I am flat refusing to plant cucumbers. We did that one year and I canned 35 quarts of pickles. In the space left after the spinach and squash get planted, sometime today or tomorrow, I will plant Hubby some radishes and green onions. Possibly green peppers as well, as I can freeze those for use in casseroles and other dishes.

I really don't know what our yield will be. This is the country and all ready the rabbits have been there. I am missing two tomato plants. I read somewhere that a fertilizer containing blood meal will cure that problem so I am on the hunt for some this weekend. Somehow or other I don't think MiracleGro will help with that.

The weather predicted for the next few days is hazy, hot and humid with highs being in the lower 90's. It figures, Spring was cold, so Summer will be hot. This type of weather will create the chance for more thunder showers and that will help to keep my garden watered. Otherwise I will be making numerous trips to the garden with my trusty 2 gallon watering can. She said no hoses, she didn't say no watering cans. Granted that's not the ideal situation, but she doesn't pay my grocery bill. It's a lot of extra work to do the watering that way, but it will just add to the better health aspect of gardening. In addition to all the healthy vegetables, there will be all that exercise.

Planting, weeding, watering, harvesting. All that bending, pushing, and pulling that this body isn't used to. It all ready is complaining to me that I have used muscles allowed to rest all winter long. I guess it's just going to have to get used to it. The price of oil went up again today to $129 per barrel. Hopefully, with enough effort, something will actually grow.

 My Life On Television.

I was having fun in Photobucket yesterday and discovered this format for a slide show. I randomly chose pictures and captions and when I finished it realized that I had created a synopsis of my life in general.
Fantasy, reality, ups, downs, mistakes and triumphs.

I sat there viewing it after it was completed and laughed. No matter where I am in life, be it in the middle of a crisis, or in the middle of a fight with dust bunnies, there's always more to come. Some good, some not so good. That's life. Can't think of anything better, can you?

It Was All Done In PUBLIC

Although I am posting, this blog will remain closed to comments for awhile. I do believe that the problem has been taken care of, however, since there was more than one ID involved, obviously another one could be created, or an existing unknown one can be used.

None of what happened here had anything to do with Private Messages. Someone directed someone else to an old post of mine. That person commented in a nasty manner to me. I responded and waited for more, which didn't happen. I thought that person understood and was no longer willing to fight. I tend to want to believe in good will. I was wrong. Unfortunately at 2 in the morning Monday morning, this person chose to come back and send public comments to 5 different bloggers off of comments left in my blog. At one point, comments directed to one person came from a different ID, and when I went to the page, they had been deleted. They were in my mailbox so I was able to tell Pioneer that name as well.

I did not delete anything from the page with one exception. There was one blogger who commented and had not yet been bothered. I chose to protect her by deleting her comment so there would NOT be another victim added to the list. There were a total of 5 bloggers bothered in this manner, other than myself. Fighting with me in my pages is one thing, bothering other people who comment is quite another.

All of the bloggers attacked here have done nothing to deserve what happened to them. One of them did have an old problem with a friend of this person, but since that was in the past, almost 2 years ago, I wonder why it had to be brought out now? I guess like anything else around here people have their agendas and seem to want to use any opportunity to air them. That person didn't really have much to say except that they were saying Hi to me as they weren't familiar with the topic of my post. There was NO rhyme or reason for them to be attacked.

When I closed this blog to comments I deactivated Sherry's Rainbow Room. I do still have my fiction blog open. Since that blog is fiction, it is open to comments pertaining to the stories that are posted there. I haven't posted there in awhile because of time constraints. With this blog closed to comments I will have more time and may work on my fiction. I haven't decided yet. If I do reopen this blog to comments be aware that I will not tolerate attacks on any of my visitors.

Closed to Comments But Blogging On

When I do something that angers another person I expect that person to deal with me and NOT others who have added their opinions to my views. Unfortunately someone has done that. Until the situation is resolved I have closed my blog to ALL comments.

To all other bloggers who have been bothered by this person, I wish to extend my sincere apologies. I guess you truly don't know about the kind of people you can encounter online. I have blocked that person but there's no guarantee that a new identity won't be created and the abuse would continue. It isn't fair to others here who wish to blog in peace.

Closing the blog to comments will prevent others from incurring any wrath by any opinions that they may have on any future posts. I have reported the behavior to Pioneer, but am not sure what if anything can be done.

I will not deactivate when doing so would give creedence to this persons accusations. The decision to close comments is based entirely on my respect for others here.
