 TAG I'm It

Message: Hey Sherry!

I got a message from Ty- He is starting a new game.. Wanna play?
I'm a big fan of youtube and while i was checking out a couple of videos, i came across a video that was TAGGED. TAGGED is a a game some youtubers play to get to know one another. If your TAGGED you must answer 5 or + questions the person who TAGGED you sent you, and you have to answer it on your blog.

I thought it would be really cool to do the same TAGGED game on blogstream. If your interested, here are the rules:

RULES:
1. Title of the TAGGED blog must be, TAGGED #1: 5 Random Facts.
2. Must answer the questions sent to you and tell who tagged you in your blog.
3. Cannot tag someone who already tagged you or tag someone twice.
4. Must send the SAME questions the people who tagged you to the person you are tagging. (CANNOT CHANGE THE QUESTIONS!!!).
5. Please restate the questions before answering.
6. Please notify tagger if you don't want to participate.
7. Can only tag one person
8. Please copy and paste the rules and questions to whoever your tagging
9. Have fun!
10. You must state who you are tagging next in your blog.

QUESTIONS:
1. Why do you blog?
2. Scariest moment in your life?
3. Top 5 songs on your iPod? (if you don't have an iPod, just give your 5 favorite songs)
4. What are your interests/hobbies?
5. What do you hope to accomplish in the next 5 years?

Lets try and get 20+ Blogstreamers playing! For an example of what your "TAGGED" blog post should look like, go to my page.

Again, please copy and paste the rules and questions to whoever your tagging. THANX!!

Hope you'll play along Sherry!

Bear Hugs!

 Party Music

We have a line of thunderboomers in my area at the moment. I'll be back with the refreshments when they're over. I wanted to get this posted before I lost my broadband again.

The weather seems to be better, so we can get this party started. Anybody want to try the shroom?

For those who smoke, a little wacky tabacky pick your pipe.

 You're Invited

Hear Ye, Hear ye! Sherry is announcing that today is her Second Blogstream Anniversary.

I created my account on April 26, 2006.

I had no idea what I was doing, nor where it would take me.

Some days it was a fun dose of fantasy and other days...well...let's not spoil the party.

Leave reality on the banks of the stream, bring the voices in your head, step through the Looking Glass and join the celebration.

The music starts at 7:30pm. Hope to see you then.

If Ignorance Is Bliss, Call Me Very Blissful

As someone who blogs, I've always tried to steer clear of politics and religion when doing my posts. Two of the fastest ways to generate controversy can also generate debates that become heated. Things said during those debates can lead to bad feelings and I've never intentionally chosen that avenue in my blog. Which doesn't mean that I haven't accomplished that. Sometimes we don't see where we're headed.

The wonderful thing about being who we are as Americans is that we have the right to voice our opinions on any topic without fear. As long as we aren't planning a violent overthrow of the government or the assasination of a president we are free to voice our opinions. However, much as we dislike the idea, we must accord the same freedoms to those with opinions differing from our own. Unfortunately, every opinion has an equal and opposite opinion. There's probably a law of nature or something that governs that. I'm sure that for every opinion I give someone with a contrary opinion arrives at the conclusion that I am stupid, ignorant, or a jerk.

It's also human nature to gravitate towards like minded individuals. Once that happens we have a group of people who support us in our stupidity, or in our intelligence as the case may be. That's how elections are won, or lost. That's how a product becomes profitable for it's manufacturer. That's how an author becomes more well known than others. That's how a concept becomes a reality. Majority rules, whether it's right or wrong, majority rules. As I see it, the problem with majority ruling is that when the majority proves wrong, somehow the majority ceases to exist or at least no one seems to know how this happened.

Take the Iraq War for instance. When we first went there, it was supported by the "Majority". All these many years later, no one seems to be able to say "I supported that war on information available to me at the time, and have since regretted my support because I discovered the information was flawed". In my ignorance, I believe that to be a perfectly acceptable reason for changing ones mind. However, not one person I know of who supported the war in the beginning has said more than "Bring our troops home!". What part of they are there to start out with because the Majority put them there, escapes them? Why can't the Majority admit they made a mistake and correct it?

Another example of the Majority failing in their responsibility would be found in our higher gas prices. It took awhile, but sales of SUV's and other gas guzzling vehicles has finally slowed to a crawl. Somehow it never occured to these people that these higher prices may have existed because the Majority was purchasing these vehicles. Supply and demand is a very simple concept. The more we demand the higher the price of the supply will be. Somehow the concept of driving up the price of something because the Majority continued to use it no matter where it went didn't sink in. Now, SUV owners are buying the kinds of vehicles which operate more economically. How high would gas prices be if they had done this 3 years ago? It's probably stupid of me to think that they wouldn't be as high as they are now.

Last night I heard NY Senator Charles Schumer advance an idea. He's not the Senator from NY running for President by the way. In my ignorance I have to ask myself why? In case you hadn't heard his idea, he thinks that our government should demand from the Saudi's that they stop rationing the flow of crude. They want American support for their military through American intelligence and technology. He thinks part of the price for that should be that they pay for it through increased production of crude oil. More available crude would mean a lower price per barrel. Since that is the reason the oil companies are giving for the higher prices, it would point out who the culprits really are.

My personal opinion is that we are being screwed by the oil companies. Somehow or other my mind keeps reflecting on the higher price they're paying for crude which is leading to record breaking profits. I'm probably having a moment during which I'm being an ignorant, stupid jerk, but somehow that just doesn't add up to the so called "shortage" of available crude. However, Senator Schumer's idea seems to me to be a step in the right direction. I wonder why that idea wasn't advanced by any of the current and possible candidates for election to President? In my ignorance it has occured to me that the reason I'm having such a hard time deciding who to vote for is because quite possibly it isn't America's Best and Brightest that has their hat in the ring. Now THAT'S just stupid.

 If For No Other Reason

I hadn't taken the time to explore the woods here last Fall after we moved here. I did so this morning. Sadly, I find that prior residents, or possibly current residents of this area are using the woods for a dump. Now that we live here, that practice may change. I was wondering about the number of SUV's and pick up trucks that just seem to pull in and turn around to leave in front of my home. If the vehicle has made a wrong turn there are two empty lots to pull onto to turn around on, long before you arrive at the end of the road where I live.

I don't understand this practice of dumping illegally. The town I live in sets aside one day a month for free drop off of appliances and other items considered "white goods", by the Solid Waste Authority. Since they can get the item here to throw into the woods, why can't they take it to the town barn on the designated day? I can bet you that the same people who participate in the practice of illegal dumping will be the first to inform the rest of us about all the pollution we are subjected to from Bush's failure to effectively legislate the protection of our environment.

During this mornings hike I was treated to the sight of a stove, refrigerator, swing set, baby carriage, something that may be a tricycle for adults and even the steel frame of a camping trailer. The stove appears to be somethings home. Not sure what, so I gave it a very wide berth and returned to my own yard. Whoever disposed of these appliances took the doors off, but there is so much else that animals could be injured by. Saddens me that some people won't take responsibility for keeping their corner of our Earth clean.
